The School of Land Resources and Environment of Jiangxi Agricultural University traces its roots back to the Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry of National Chungcheng University(CCU) in 1940. It was formed by merging the former Department of Resources and Environment, the Department of Environmental Protection and the Department of Soil Management in 1997.
The school has five departments, including the Department of Agricultural Resources and Environment, the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, the Department of Agricultural Water Conservancy Engineering, the Department of Land Resources Management and the Department of Tourism Management.
And it also has 8 teaching and research platforms , provincial or national: Key Laboratory of Poyang Lake Watershed Agricultural Resources and Ecology of Jiangxi Province, Technological Innovation Center of Ecosystem Protection and Restoration Projects for Great Lakes Basin Territory, Jiangxi Innovation Research Base of Utilization Technology and Management for Natural Resources Utilization, Jiangxi Key Innovation Center of Integration Between Industry and Education for Resource Utilization of Agricultural Waste and Prevention and Control Technologies for Non-Point Source Pollution, Agricultural Resources and Environment Center for Experimental Education of Jiangxi Agricultural University, Pesticide Registration Test Unit, Jinggangshan tangerine Science and Technology Backyard and Jiangxi Agricultural University Land Science Research Institute, which can not only improve the teaching quality, but also play an import role in society.
The school has an initially-established, reasonably structured faculty team, and all the teachers have rigorous ethics and excellent academic performance.Up to now, the school has 110 faculty members , including 89 full-time teachers, who account for 80.91% of the total, of whom 15 hold senior professional titles and 35 hold associate senior titles. There are 14 supervisors for doctoral students, 41 master’s supervisors, and 76 doctor-degree holders.
The school has 1 national model teacher, 2 experts receiving special allowance from the State Council, 2 leading talents of Gan-Po Excellent Talents 555 Project, 1 outstanding teacher of Jiangxi Province, 6 leading figures of young and middle-aged disciplines in institutions of higher education in Jiangxi Province, 5 candidates of the first and second levels of the Hundred and Thousand and Ten-Thousand Talent Project of New Century in Jiangxi Province. There are 5 people selected for the “Double Thousand Plan” in Jiangxi Province and 2 people selected for the Young Jinggang Scholars Award Program.
The faculty of our school is mainly composed of young and middle-aged teachers. With the continuous introduction of young high-quality doctors, the age structure of the talent team is increasingly improved: 68 faculty members are under 40 years old, accounting for 61.82% of the total.
On the basis of strengthening basic research and applied basic research, the school continues to expand applied research and social service work. In recent years, it has undertaken 233 various topics, including the National Natural Science Foundation Project, the National Social Science Foundation Project, the National 973 sub-project, the 13th Five-Year National Key Research and Development Plan Project, and the provincial and municipal (department) level project, published 490 papers and 23 works, won 52 science and technology awards of the national, provincial and ministerial level, and obtained 18 patents. A large number of those achievements have been widely applied in society and have achieved good economic, social and ecological benefits.
