The School of Computer and Information Engineering was founded in September 2000, based on its predecessors: the Teaching and Research Section of Computer Science established in 1984, and the Department of Computer Science was established in September 1993. The school is made up of 77 faculty and staff members, of whom there are 30 members with senior titles, 15 with doctoral degrees, 1 Jinggang Scholar of Jiangxi Province, 1 Discipline Leader of Jiangxi Province, 1 Backbone Teacher of Jiangxi Province, 1 Gold Medalist Young Teacher of Jiangxi Province; in addition to the 1,753 undergraduate students and 60 postgraduate students in the master’s programmes.
The school now offers undergraduate education in four majors: Computer Science and Technology, Data Science and Big Data Technology, E-commerce, and Information and Computing Science. Computer Science and Technology is one of the first Key Majors in Jiangxi Province. The school was approved in 2006 as the Provincial Experimental Teaching Demonstration Centre, and is furnished with 12 well equipped laboratories for Computer Fundamentals, Computer Networks, Network Integrated Wiring, Microcomputer Principles, Embedded Software Development, E-commerce, and Computer Software.
In 2004, the school was granted the right to confer master's degree in the Primary master’s program of Computer Science and Technology, and the right to confer master's degree in Agricultural Extension. We have two research platforms, the Key Laboratory of Agricultural Information Technology for Jiangxi Higher Education Institutions, and the Institute of Knowledge Engineering and Intelligent Information Processing. At present, our research is mainly in the three following areas: Computer Application Technology, Computer Software and Theory, and Agricultural Big Data Analysis and Modelling.
In the past five years, full-time teachers have presided over more than 80 scientific research projects, published 87 academic papers in top and well-known journals and conferences, awarded 3 second prizes of provincial and ministerial science and awards, published 6 monographs and 14 textbooks as editors-in-chief.
Focusing on Agricultural Internet of Things and Blockchain technology, 3D Crop Dynamic Visualization Modelling, Intelligent Information Systems, Rural E-commerce and other three agricultural service directions(Services for rural areas, agriculture and farmers) , the school has achieved a lot by exploring cutting-edge research, promoting the transformation of scientific research outcomes, helping rural revitalization, and realizing the digitization of villages and towns and the Agricultural Intelligence. Teachers special in this of the school provide our contribution and technology to rural revitalization by actively participating in activities such as Science and Technology Missions, Science and Technology Backyard; organizing online and offline training around Rural Digitization and the construction of Digital Villages; providing pro bono consulting to contact farmers and rural enterprises.
