We grew from an English teaching and research section of the former Humanity and Sociology Department into a school of foreign languages in 2008. We have departments of English and Japanese, of which English has become a brand major in Jiangxi Province, ranking 4th (totally 34 candidates) and 3rd (totally 17 candidates) respectively, according to an assessment by higher education authorities of Jiangxi Province in 2021. Besides, a postgraduate program of English education, which kicked off in 2017, has become a priority subject in Jiangxi Agricultural University.
We have a faculty of 88 members, including 5 professors and 19 associate professors, of whom 13 are doctoral degree’s holders and 9 are pursuing doctoral degrees. Over 40% of the teachers have once worked or/and furthered their study overseas.
We have teaching and training facilities for simultaneous interpreting, international trade, international business negotiation and business English practice. Besides, we have a library, language labs, microteaching classrooms and self-learning classrooms.
We are proud of our teaching and research: 7 national teaching awards, 2 provincial special teaching awards, some first and second provincial awards, over 20 national and provincial research programs and a number of academic papers. We have two national undergraduate online courses and five provincial courses. As a result of our efforts, we were the only higher education unit in Jiangxi Province awarded by the provincial government for the Women’s Day in 2016.
Honored as an excellent team for employment guidance, we pay great attention to our students’ future career. 90% of our education masters are now college or high school teachers. Our graduates, some of who have furthered their study home and abroad, are mostly employed for trade, education, foreign affairs, tourism, news media, etc.
