The School of Software is a provincial demonstrative software school of Jiangxi Agricultural University, which is approved by Jiangxi Education Department in 2003. Based on the development of IT industry international and domestic, the school is committed to cultivating application-oriented and entrepreneurial talents who have solid bases and extensive knowledge, strong abilities ,value application and pursue innovation in order to meet the demands of market and society. Meanwhile, based upon Jiangxi province and orienting towards the whole country, the software school adheres to the combination of production, learning and research. It recruits students from more than 20 provinces, cities and autonomous regions across the country. Currently, it has two majors--Software Engineering and Internet of Things Engineering--and one authorisation point in Agricultural Engineering and Information Technology authorized by Professional Master's Degree.
Among them, Software Engineering offers seven specialties, including Software Development, Embedded Systems, Technology and Application of Big Data, Mobile Internet, English, Accounting, and Finance. At present, There are 2,865 full-time students in this school. The school cultivates professional undergraduates by implementing a “3+1” education mode which refers to that students study on campus in the first three academic years and recieve one-year professional training in Beijing or Shenzhen training bases. According to the mode, the school has strong faculty force which is consisted of full-time teachers, part-time teachers on campus and in enterprise. Up to now, the school has 52 teachers and 5 of them are professors, 9 are associate professors, 14 are postgraduate supervisors, 11 possess doctoral degrees, and 3 are studying for PhD. All full-time teachers have master’s or doctoral degrees and are capable of teaching, making scientific researches, and developing software. The school has onemiddle-aged backbone teacher of universities in Jiangxi Province, one gold medal young teacher in Jiangxi Province, three teachers who have received funding from JXAU “Future Star” talent program, and two teachers who have been selected as teaching models of JXAU.
Development history: In 2003, School of Software was approved as a Demonstrative Software School in Jiangxi Province; In 2008, Software Engineering was ratified as a Provincial Specialty by the Education Department of Jiangxi Province, which is a key major of JXAU and Jiangxi Province; In the same year, one lab of the school was recognized as the Key Laboratory of Agricultural Information Technology in Higher Education Institutions of Jiangxi Province; In 2010, the school’s Innovative Experimental Zone was approved as an Innovative Experimental Zone for Talent Cultivation Mode in Higher Education Institutions of Jiangxi Province, which is an engineering software experimental zone oriented to industry demand ; In 2019, the school was entitled to confer master’s degree in one program--Agricultural Engineering and Information Technology.
Talent cultivation: Following closely the forefront of scientific technology in the IT field, School of Software, Jiangxi Agricultural University established 15 teacher’s studios for National Key Research and Development Program of China , National Natural Science Foundation of China and other scientific research projects and topics. Teachers organized competitions such as software innovation design competitions, algorithm competitions, monthly scientific technology evaluations. Students also carried out social services based on the concept of “Smart Three Nong”(agriculture, countryside and farmer) through an order and teamwork form. In the past five years, undergraduates have developed more than 1000 various application software projects. In addition, more than 200 software copyrights and more than 10 National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Projects were approved. Furthermore, undergraduates have won more than 700 awards, including the Grand Prize of the National Big Data Skills Competition for school Students (undergraduate group) and the First Prize of the National Big Data Application Innovation Competition for schools and Universities. Besides, they were the championship of the National Finals of the 2022 Global “Future Automobile” Intelligent Scene Innovation Challenge Contest, the first place in the National Finals of the Second Embedded Chip and System Design Competition as well as the Fourth Intelligent Interconnection Innovation Competition, thus winning the National Grand Prize that has been vacant for two years in the latter. The school has successively cultivated more than 10,000 high-quality professionals of all kinds. Each year, the school fosters a group of technical personnel and management elites for such Internet enterprises as Alibaba, Baidu, Lenovo, JD, UFIDA, IBM ,etc. Each year, a batch of undergraduates are admitted as graduates to Double First-Class universities such as Zhejiang University, Fudan University, University of Science and Technology of China. On average, the employment rate of undergraduates of the school reaches about 90% and the satisfaction rate of employers towards our graduates remains above 90%.
Scientific research: Relying on the master’s program of Agricultural Engineering and Information Technology and the Key Laboratory of Agricultural Information Technology in Jiangxi Higher Education Institutions, young teachers’ scientific research teams such as Agricultural Informatization and Smart Agriculture, Internet of Things and Detection Technology, Big data and computing intelligence, artificial intelligence and pattern identification will be formed to concentrate scientific research and improve teachers’ scientific research capabilities. These young teachers’ scientific research teams jointly built the “the Belt and Road Initiative” smart agriculture laboratory with Chulalongkorn University in Thailand and organized international academic conferences with well-known universities at home and abroad. What’s more, these teams signed project cooperation agreements with famous research institutes and relatedenterprises at home and abroad. In the past 5 years, the school has newly added 7 national key research and development programs and national natural science foundation projects, 10 Jiangxi natural science foundation projects, 10 research projects on education and teaching in Jiangxi Province and more than 40 authorized national patents (11 invention patents). Our teachers have published more than 30 SCI academic papers in magazines which are categorized to the first and second districts of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Social Services: Focusing on multiple specialties such as “Agricultural Internet of Things and Blockchain Technology”, “Crop 3D Dynamic Visualization Modeling”, and “Intelligent Information System”, School of Software, Jiangxi Agricultural University supports rural revitalization and has achieved certain results in realizing digitization of villages and towns and agricultural intelligence through vertical disciplines exploring frontier researches while horizontal ones promoting the transformation of scientific research achievements. Every year, teachers of the school are selected to go to the companies, enterprises, and industry associations for exchange and training. Full-time teachers actively participate in science and technology missions and academies, and organize online and offline training for more than 20,000 people around the themes of digitization of villages and towns and the construction of digital villages. The school is dedicated to constructing a distinctive modern agricultural service system and carrying out “Smart Agriculture” informationization services in the land of Jiangxi Province to promote informatization of agricultural development. The school has successively carried out strategic cooperation with units such as the Geographic Information Engineering Brigade of the Jiangxi Provincial Geological Bureau and the Applied Physics Institute of the Jiangxi Academy of Sciences. Furthermore, the school has jointly undertaken horizontal projects with companies such as Jiangxi Fansheng Modern Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd., Sichuan Chengdu New Chaoyang Crop Science Co., Ltd., Shandong Yunxiang Sky Technology Service Co., Ltd., and realized the transformation of multiple scientific research achievements, thus contributing science and technology to rural revitalization.
Cultural activities on campus: Taking the opportunity of the approval of comprehensive reform of the “San Quan”( an education mode which focus on three perspectives including “all the students, whole process, the full range”) Education System in Jiangxi Province and relying on other oganizations, the Software School launches colorful cultural activities on campus. To implements the fundamental task of fostering morality and cultivating talent earnestly, the Software School have set a series of activities such as “Code Practice”, “Code Talk” and “Code Learning”, which aimed at further promoting the cultural and creative product of “JiangXi Agricultural University Small Code” and creating the campus cultural brand of “Code Culture”. A number of advanced collectives and individuals commended by our country and province have emerged among students of the Software School. The social activities of students have been also commended many times by the goverment of our province. The school has been honored many times as advanced unit of social activities, student work and employment in JXAU.
